Jean-Paul in Sweden

Hi!
I have been in Sweden for three weeks now. It was very hot and sunny when I arrived. The picture of me is from a school race just before we started to run. It was a tough race and it was sweaty to wear a knitted cardigan but I was happy anyway because it's fun here in Sweden.
Today, June 11 is the last day for the pupils in school and tomorrow their summer break begins. I am going to join the class in the church this afternoon with Elisabeth and Saila, their teachers. It's very common to gather in the church when we finish the school year in June. I hope you will have a good summer and see you all in August!

relay race

Here is a picture of the relay race. It was interesting and fun because in this school each level has a theme. The 6° level (12 year old students) have to choose the name of an artist or composer for their class name. They have chose "Coco Chanel, Louis Arstrong, Monet, Raphael, Bach". The 5° level (13 year old students) have to choose an author " A. Christie, J. London, J.K. Rowling". The 4° level (14 year old students) the name of mathematician, "Papin, Diaz, Thales, Bonacci". The 3° level (15 year old students) the name of a Nobel Peace Price winner "Dalai Lama, Ghandi, Rigoberta Manchu, Korczak, Aung San Suu Kyi". So each class has a certain color and the relay stick has to do with the class name. For example Coco Chanel had a bottle of water with N° 5 written on it, Dalai Lama had a bambou stick, Louis Armstrong had a musical note. So it was fun and original.
By the way I ran two laps, it took me a long time. I was exhausted in the end! If you look at the picture closed I am at the far left hand side. Can you see me????

lunch time

After playing basketball and cheering my class, we were starving. Lunch time was fun. We all had lunch together as a team. We had French bread (of course) the baguette is really yummy! We had potatoe chips, chicken paté, a tomatoe, a hard boiled egg, cheese (viva la French cheese!) cookies, a bottle of water (no wine!) and bananas from Martinique. Do you know where Martinique is?? It is an island in the Caribbean and it belongs to France. The bananas were delicious, I enjoyed them alot. After such a big lunch I was ready for a "sieste" but wait we had a big relay race to prepare ...

A little exercise

While my team was playing basketball, I was doing a little exercise, warming up a little. Unfortunately there were no football (soccer) matches I'm a pretty good goalie, I would have blocked those balls. Oh well!

Nelly's Sports Day in France

Hi, everybody I had a nice time in France! A few days before I left I participated in " Sports Day". It was fun. On Thurdsay May seventh, I went to school at 8 am, we gathered and walked to the stadium. The 6° and 4° years students played basketball and the 5° and 3° year students played volleyball. I stayed with the 4° Diaz class and they played basketball. I encouraged them a lot. During the tournaments there was a lot of music and snacks. I love loud music, it wasn't pretty bad . .. Here you can see me enjoying myself. We had lunch together, then in the afternoon there was an enourmous relay race. We had to run: for fifty minutes each class had to run the most amount of laps around the track. The class which ran with the most - won the relay race. I only managed to do two laps because I have short legs, at the end I was exhausted.
Then we walked back to our school and we listened to a concert by the school chorale, then anouther group played rock and roll music which was fantastic! It was a great day.

The sport day

Today there was a big sport day on the school. We had a lot of fun, but now I'm very tired of the activities. Before I'm going to sleep, I want to show you a few pictures...

Here I'm catching the frisbees. See how many frisbees I've catched!

When I was going back and forward on the tyre,
I had a funny feeling in my stomach :-)

I'm jumping on the trampoline. Whiiiiiiiiiii!

In the afternoon we were playing baseball. In Belgium, they love to play baseball! My group was the purple team. It was really difficult to hit the little ball, but I tried and tried and tried...
And I made 5 points!

Time for sunbading, just like my friend Reddy the Teddy did in Sweden :-)

Bye, bye!

The childeren who take care of me...

I am staying with the childeren of the sixth year, in the class 6A. Their teacher is miss Gwendoline. There is also another sixth year: 6D. Their teacher is mister Miguel. In both classes there are 20 pupils of 11-12 years old. They learn different things like: maths, Dutch, French, WO, music, drawing, dansing, ... . In June, the pupils say goodbye to the primary school, because they will have to go to the secondary school. There they will learn new things, make new friend, have a lot of teachers, ... . But during the last months in the sixth year, they will have a lot of fun!

Jean-Paul in the 5th year...

Friday I was on a visit in the 5th school year. Their teachers are miss Nele and miss Valérie. The pupils are approximately 10-11 years. They still go to the park, and they will get a large surprise on the end of the school year. The teachers of the 5th school year like to teach. The children are very polite against the teachers in the class. The teachers find it busy to go on a lot of trips, because they sit with 25 students in one classroom!

Floor ball

Hiya!

Today I went home with a boy in the class and watched his floorballstick and balls. But I was to shy to be on the picture. Floorball is very popular in Grums. There are usually about 20 players in a team. Most got 2 practices a week and a match on weekends. When you play theres 2 forwards, 1 center, 2 backs and 1 goalkeeper from each teams. Most invites about 16 players to a match, That way you got 3 chains ( 5 in each ) and one goalkeeper that plays all the time. And sometimes you bring 2 goalkeepers.

But I get big muscles when I work in the stable. I ride Maretto who's father was a great jumping horse. Befor I was riding I was asleep in the hay.

Kind Regards
